Menston 167 / All out (44.2)
TCC 111 / All out (32.4)
On a brisk cold day in Menston- I’m just trying to remember how glorious the Saturdays were in lockdown.
On a lovely looking track it was wet on top n the skipper elected to bowl.
This is a brief summary because in truth I feel we fielded really well, backed each other up, and some chances on another day will go in on another day, rob bowled through is over for 13-0-40-2, bowled well, henry 9-38-3, was all of a sudden bringing in off seam upon seeking if he knew how to do that it was a clear no- but hell take it.
Young Charles was pick of bowlers for me and was 7-2-12-0. A young lad learning at a young age control is more important than pace- probably pick in fielders barring the nutmeg.
Mags managed not only to get himself into slip but also out of bowling, so it was Dan Gibson who bowled 9.2-1-38-2, and Gaz 6-1-33-2.
Shout out to a great catch from Tom n a direct run out from boundary from Charles- although I have been assured he got a lucky bounce. The 3 juniors are all good in the field which is good as gaz is becoming a liability.
The batting, oh dear the batting- the positives Cuffy (35)n Gaz (36no) look in form. Cv got another start of 14- and some brilliant catches from Menston on another day will have gone past the 1 hand clung out.
The rest of us got 19 between us and were some horrific swipes along the way and a meltdown from generally the most placid man on the field. We were to be 111 all out.
3 games left- let’s make sure we compete and keep the spirit we had on the field.
Mule of day – probably the other 8 who batted barring Mags- who got out to a stormer of a catch.
